Farewell, jaw

AllianceI seem to remember that up until fairly recently, my jaw was firmly attached directly to the lower part of my face. Sitting here staring at the screens of Alliance : The Silent War, I find that I appear to have lost track of it - I am, to all intents and purposes, jawless. They’re beautiful.

You’ll understand why the feeling of wonder is especially acute when you realise that underneath that beauty lies an engine I’m rather intimately familiar with - OGRE. Obviously it’s got a considerable amount of make up on - the guys working on this have spent a huge amount of time creating all kinds of wondrous shader magic, exquisitely crafted art content, and tools (the Alliance engine), but within it beats an OGRE heart - and I’m proud to have played a part in it. This is the first time I’ve seen Alliance itself; I’ve worked with WMI quite a few times over the last couple of years on bits of tech but this is the first time I’ve seen what they were actually doing with it - and it looks even better than I expected (and knowing these guys, I was already expecting a lot). They’ve been at E3 promoting this baby, and I wish them all the luck peeling a few eyelids back 😀Kudos, chaps. Truckloads of it.

Talking about E3, I know of 3 stands this year in Kentai hall that had OGRE tech in them 😀Maybe I’ll get to sneak in one of these days …
