Logo was my third language, I started in Microsoft Basic on the TRS-80 then learnt Forth.

I still have a fondness for stack based languages (and I still use a HP calculator with reverse polish lisp).

I think C++ was around my 30th-40th language.

Logo was also one of my first languages, along with BASICA - followed by GWBASIC. I think Logo is very intuitive to encourage young children to start programming. Ah.. some kids nowadays had started programming in C++ ;)

@Paul: Yeah, I've done a ton of SQL but I guess I don't really think of it as a programming language, same with things like XSLT.

@Baz: yep :) I never said I wrote it alone, just that it was the first thing I remember writing ;)

What was the first real program you wrote?

A text adventure game on the Spectrum with a mixture of line-drawn and simple sprite graphics. I was highly influenced by games like The Hobbit and the Fighting Fantasy books at the time

...That's Co-wrote.... That is, if you are refering of course to our Alucard games on the Speccy. I deserve a slight credit, after all it is one of my few early attempts at programing :)

Wow!! That good old Turtle from Logo, man I remember that.
And the Steve Jackson/Ian Livingstone books, I used to love them. I had over twenty five green spines lined up on my bookshelf when I left Africa, and when my parents moved over they had donated them all to the school library - I was gutted!

I would have expected to see SQL in that language list, what with all the business software background you have.
