Oo, EW.com has just revealed (picked up via RockBandContent.com) that there are more full albums on the way for Rock Band after the release of Rock Band 2:
Foo Fighters (The Colour and the Shape)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Blood Sugar Sex Magik)
Jane’s Addiction (Nothing’s Shocking)
Megadeth (Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying)
Stevie Ray Vaughn (Texas Flood)
No Doubt (’Best Of’ Collection)
I don’t know about anyone else, but the top 2 are instant purchases for me, since both are regulars on my iTunes playlists. These are advertised for Rock band 2, but since DLC is interchangeable between the 2 games I’m betting I can still use them even if RB2 hasn’t made it to our shores by then.
Ho boy, time to prime the wallet again methinks. Until then I’ll have to just exhaust myself playing a Duran Duran drum medley. RB is definitely educational, I never realised that ‘Rio’ was so relentlessly fast & long on the drums, I have newfound respect for the New Romantics era musicians - that is, if it wasn’t all pre-programmed on drum machines…

As a PS3 owner, I think I’ll just go sob in the corner now. (Then I’ll go play some more Uncharted:Drake’s Fortune - it’s not *all* bad over here in sonyland.)

Ace!
I’m still an old school Guitar Hero type - My sis loves it and I’ve been planning to buy her Rock Band for her birthday next month, didn’t realise there was Rock Band 2 out no also.
Seriously: What should I buy, a Wii or some other console, bearing in mind I’ll also be getting Rock Band 2.

The Wii isn’t a good choice for Rock Band since it has no hard drive, and DLC is such a major part of the awesomeness of Rock Band that it just wouldn’t be the same without it. Definitely a 360 or PS3 required.
I obviously prefer the 360, because there are more games that I like on it. PS3’s Blu-Ray is a nice feature, but I wanted a games console more than a movie player and there really are more good games on 360, especially if you count XBLA (Geometry Wars 1/2, Pac Man CE, N+, Braid, and lots of others). PS3 has some good ones too of course, MGS4 (if you like that sort of thing), Unchartered and Little Big Planet to come but there’s still not that many compared to 360. Playing the numbers game which I don’t entirely believe in but I’m trying to minimise bias, there are more than double the number of high-scoring games on Metacritic for 360 than PS3. I’ve been spoiled for choice while I think I would be struggling if I had a PS3. And no Rock Band yet of course, which would be crucifying for me.
On the flipside, the 360 hardware is very poorly designed from a noise / cooling / convenience perspective, the PS3 is a *much* better physical unit and comes with everything you need (like Wifi). Also as time goes on PS3 should get a stronger games lineup - although we’ve been saying that for a couple of years now.
So, you have to weigh up your priorities. If you want a slick, well designed lounge unit that plays Blu-Ray, has a handful of great games right now and will probably have more in 6-12 months time, or if you specifically want MGS and LBP, then PS3 is probably for you. However if range of games are your top priority, especially if you like quality indie games, and don’t mind a few rough edges (like noise & heat), and especially if you’re a Rock Band nut the 360 may be a better choice. Take yer pick!
