Yahtzee hates EVE too

Comedy, Games

I blogged a little while ago about the soul-crushing tedium that was my brief, never to be repeated experience with EVE Online. Well, happily Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation has waded in with his size 9’s and had me cheering from the stands in between chuckles.

Amen, brother Yahtzee, amen.

Hehehe made my work mate quite annoyed after watching that - touched a nerve I guess.

Can you guys actually understand what he is saying? I’m a native english speaker, and I thought the English accent wasn’t that bad until I watched that.. lol. He talks at 100 miles an hour and everything is kind of blurred together. I couldn’t even detect any pauses for any kind of breathing in between sentences!

That’s kinda why it’s called ‘Zero Punctuation’ :)

I don’t have any problems following what he says, but then I’m a Brit and I’ve been told that I talk too fast. Be thankful he doesn’t have a Geordie or Glaswegian accent, then you’d really be in trouble…

I do tend to watch it again each time so I can pick up all the fleeting visual gags though.

I really like his reviews. I’m not a native English speaker but when I watch his videos about 4-5 times I can actually understand what he says. I found some American accents much less understandable than this.
But this is probably because we learn British English in school here.

For once I find his review totally of the mark.

Mining & shooting are only what you do the first 2 weeks of the game! Then you have enough skills to do the interesting parts which are… the corporate live.

Of course if you are a lonesome nerd that don’t want to interact with people like he sounds then yep EVE is not for you.

EVE is mostly about strategy and tactics needing week of MONTHS of real-life time! This is not a casual game you can do occasionally.

You can specialise in shooting/mining but you can also never touch those and focus on management, research, etc.
This game is NOT a game for programming nerds but for… corporate managers, generals, tacticians, spies, financial gurus and commerce barons.
