LBP feels British - good show!

Games, Political

I just watched the Little Big Planet beta video that VG247 posted, and I have to say well done to Media Molecule for creating a game with a definite British feel to it (as well as it still looking damn interesting). I complained a while back about the overt Americanisation in so much of the output of British studios in recent years, losing a lot of the regional quirkiness that I think enhances content from any country, so I’m glad to see the spirit is not dead. In particular I liked the use of the ‘gallery’ music from Take Hart, which is hugely appropriate. Great way to get the credits actually watched too. LBP remains the one exclusive that piques my interest on PS3 and I’m looking forward to having a play with it on a friends machine.

I’ve read that Fable 2 has a definite British slant to it too, I’m looking forward to seeing how that turns out next month.

Cool video. I noticed they also do the voice trick, using a few sound effects to simulate the person talking. Wish this wasn’t ps3 only :(

.. and this is why I say a system of multiple incompatible & proprietary consoles is dumb.

Players want to buy the product. Presumably developers would like to sell as many as they can. And yet consumers and producers of the content are unable to connect with each other without the consumer buying multiple (effectively redundant) systems, or the developer spending extra time developing multiple versions (if it’s non-exclusive, which is the way most are going). It’s madness I tell you - in a world where hardware becomes increasingly commoditised and people (excluding stupid fanboys) care most about content it makes no sense.

MM might own the LBP IP… but even if they do I doubt Sony would like what could be their only platform defining title become cross platform is doubtful.

Fable II has some laugh out loud funny things in there.

Oh forgot to mention, give Castle Crashers a look see on XBLA. I’m finding it to be a bit of zany, co-op fun with my son. We run around bashing bad guys and saving the princess, what could be better?

LBP has been in the press but not on the market for so long that I’ve lost interest. I thought the concept was good but now I just shrug and move on. How many 10/10s do you expect it to get??

Fable 2, is so different from others, as it has roots in fairy tales instead of Lord of the Rings, as said by developers. It is looking like to be going to be a great simulation with choices, that is actually fun to play.
For myself I am lost in Elder Scrolls Oblivion. This game takes all my gaming time, and I feel like living in it.
I tried Ogre 1.6.0 RC1 and it is great, how much has been added to Ogre, amazing. Also it looks pretty stable to me.
LBP - I wish so much it were cross-platform or we did have a unique platform.
Also some one is putting out a PC based console now, possibly stardock. Oh my god it is enough of console population.
As I see asian countries can and do pirate consoles also heavily. As for MMO’s Lineage 2 already has a cracked server by the name of L2J server. Crysis Crysis.
