About Me

About Me
I’m Steve Streeting, a British software developer based on a little island called Guernsey.

I’m independently minded, sometimes outspoken, hence the blog. I’m interested in software development, technology, science, politics, business, music and most other things in life. Professionally I’m happiest when working on my own ideas, and quit the regular world of work in 2006 to pursue that – the result being work on several open source projects (most popularly Ogre3D) , freelancing on projects around the world, and creating my own independent products, including SourceTree which was acquired by Atlassian in 2011.

I guess that makes me an entrepreneur, but mostly by necessity; it’s simply the best way to get to work on what I want rather than being pulled along in the wake of others. I’ve no interest in creating the next billion-dollar company, just in spending my time making good products. But hey, if that happens to intersect one day, I won’t be complaining.

Things I Love: Gadgets, great software, music, travelling, good restaurants, left-of-centre politics, debate, comedy, Sci-Fi / Fantasy stuff, games of all kinds, Marmite, playing drums.

Things I Hate: Reality TV, expensive crappy software, auto-tuned pop music, fast food, sushi, status quo (both the state of being, and the band).
