It’s only lunchtime, but today has been awesome. Firstly, the EU Software Patents Directive has been thrown out by the parliament by a massive majority, against all my fears. Finally, politicians listened to the majority of people rather than to the over-inflated corporate lobbyists. Huzzah!
That alone would have made this a great day, but on top of that, I just heard that London has won the race to host the 2012 Olympics, beating favorites Paris. Given the frankly pathetic comments Chirac had been making about the British bid recently, I couldn’t help but laugh my arse off at his expense. London came from being a rank outsider to really pulling it off when it counted - fair play. 😀
I had the morning off work today, but I can go into work now feeling positively bouyant.
